Digital Industry Leadership Group

The Digital Industry Leadrship group is an open platform for coordinating activities that contribute to economic growth through innovative use of digital technologies in the Waikato region. This cluster group currently includes over 30 leaders of regional enteprises, academic representatives, research agencies and other institutions that have intrest in establishing Waikato as a centre of digital excellence.

The mission of the Digital Industry Leadership Group is to:

Coordinate, activate and organize the regional digital community into a digital cluster to enable growth
Promote the Waikato region as a centre of digital excellence globally to increase global sales and gain interest from large multinational companies
Provide opportunities for networking and collaboration for companies within the digital industry and users of digital technologies outside the industry
Provide members of the digital industry community with shared value-added services and tools that will help them grow and compete on international level
Encourage cooperation of digital enterprises with knowledge institutions concentrated on generating smart internationally competitive knowledge intensive digital solutions
Create supportive environment that encourages innovative digital start ups with international aspirations

The Digital industry leadership group runs separate action oriented task forces focused on specific themes, such as

Communication strategy task-force - Taking your stories the world
SODA Labs - encourage intense intra-industry communication, collaboration and linkages
DigiCoffee – project development such as the Innes 48 hrs business start up competition
Membership task force - sustainability of the Digital Industry Forum
Ultrafast Broadband Initiative - UFB rollout

The DILG also discusses the development of the regional digital agenda virtually in a closed LinkedIn Group.
