ICT delegation from the Philippines

26 Jan 2012

SODA Inc. will be hosting a half day visit of Marcy Venezuela from Apsmith Solutions from the Philippines on February 20. Companies interested in developing business opportunities in the field of IT with the Philippines should contact us to reserve a meeting with Marcy.

Maureen Marsha (Marcy) Venezuela has been selected to participate in the ASEAN Young Business Leaders Initiative. She will be in New Zealand in mid-February 2012 to meet industry leaders in her field, research New Zealand’s IT capabilities, and explore ways of enhancing the business relationship between New Zealand and the Philippines.

Marcy is the co-owner and Director, Marketing & Sales, of Apsmith Solutions, a software development and IT consulting company. Previously she worked for 3M Philippines, Globe Telecom (one of the biggest telecommunications companies in the Philippines) and Microsoft Philippines, where she worked for over 7 years. Within this industry, her focus has been marketing, sales and product development. Six years ago she co-set up Apsmith Solutions, which now employs 50 full-time staff, and is in the forefront of the custom software development industry, both in the Philippines and offshore. Its customers include a number of the Top 50 companies in the Philippines and Fortune 500 companies, including Microsoft. Marcy would like to grow her business, expand further into offshore markets, and assist in demonstrating the quality of the Philippine IT services and software development industry.
When in New Zealand, Marcy would like to gain an understanding of the New Zealand IT service and software application development industry. She is interested in a range of issues, such as adoption trends, the predominant technologies and methodologies that are used in New Zealand and how New Zealand companies plan strategically for IT and business skills development. She is particularly interested in any innovative and future-shaping applications of technology where New Zealand is an industry leader. Meeting New Zealand telecommunication companies is also a priority, as telecommunications form an important sector of the Apsmith client portfolio. More broadly, Marcy is interested in the role of the New Zealand government, how it supports the IT industry and how it drives the IT agenda.

By participating in the ASEAN Young Business Leaders Initiative, Marcy hopes to establish connections that will allow for New Zealand-Philippine cooperation in IT, a current area of growth in New Zealand-Philippine trade. She believes in a collaborative approach to New Zealand-ASEAN relations, noting the competitive advantages that have resulted from partnerships among corporate entities from within the ASEAN region. Marcy speaks Spanish, French, Filipino and English.
